Club Coaching Program

Competition is a key part of the Surf Life Saving movement in Australia. It attracts many people to the movement in the first place, generates valuable publicity for the Clubs and Surf Life Saving generally and keeps club members fit and strong, with well-developed rescue skills.

No matter what your interest or sporting level, Surf Life Saving will probably have an area suited to you. From the representative Ironmen and Women to Masters, the traditions of the first aid teams, rescue and resuscitation, there a plenty of ways to get involved in competition.

Terrigal’s strongest competition areas are in:

  • Board & Ski
  • Swimmers
  • Surf Boats
  • Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRBs)

Some of these event areas combine to create other events such as the Ironman/Woman where competitors race against each other over most of the disciplines - swim, board, ski and run. Terrigal currently has a team of very promising young Ironmen and women.

Another multi-disciplinary event where Terrigal does well is the Taplin Relay, one of the Blue Riband Events at the Australian Surf Life Saving Titles. This relay is made up of two swimmers, two board paddlers and two ski paddlers and is held to be a good measure of a club's depth in competitive ability.

Terrigal has also performed well in the competitions for Champion Life Saver and First Aid Competition. These events are held at Branch, State and Australian titles.
